France, Italy: Speed Cameras Painted, Shot, Smashed
Vigilantes in France and Italy destroy and disable speed cameras.

In Pistoia, Italy, vigilantes shot the freeway speed camera located near the Europa Bridge. In a press release issued Thursday, the city admitted it had no idea who was responsible. In Riccione, vigilantes smashed the bright orange housings of the speed cameras on the Viale Venezia and the Viale Flaminia. The camera equipment was not installed in the units at the time, Il Resto del Carlino reported. On Friday, December 4, vigilantes in in Treville disabled the speed camera on the Via Ca'Rossa. According to La Tribuna di Treviso, holes punched in the device caused 3500 euros (US $3850) in damage.

In Bearn, France, vigilantes disabled a speed camera just days after it had been activated for the first time. La Republique des Pyrenees reported that the automated ticketing machine on the RN134 had its lenses covered in fluorescent orange paint on Friday, December 4.
