An act of God took out the speed camera on the highway between Lecce and Novoli, Italy, less than a month after it had been installed. Repubblica Bari reported that the deeply unpopular device had sparked a petition to the local government demanding an increase in the speed limit. The camera was carefully positioned in a short stretch where the limit is lowered from 50 km/h (31 MPH) to 40 km/h (25 MPH).
