Australia, France, UK: Speed Cameras Tumbled, Tired
All around the world, speed cameras were associated with crashes, fire and spraypaint last week.

Tired French speed camera
A speed camera in Perth, Australia did nothing to stop a car thief from causing an accident last Tuesday. According to WA Today, the 37-year-old man behind the wheel of a Holden Commodore was on the run from police when he hit another vehicle before careening into the speed camera at the intersection of Riseley Street and Marmion Street in Booragoon. In Victoria, vigilantes set fire to the speed camera on Loders Road in Moorooduc on Wednesday, 3AW Radio reported.

In Bourogne, France, vigilantes disabled the speed camera on the RN19 last week Tuesday by placing a tire over it, blocking the camera lens, France Bleu reported. A more permanent form of damage was done in Liancourt-Fosse, where, according to the Courrier Picard, blue spraypaint was applied to the lenses of the speed camera on the RD 1017 last week Saturday. Black was the color of choice used against the speed camera on the RD46 in Padoux on Thursday, Vosges Matin reported.

In Scotland, motorist Chris Welford prevented the mobile speed camera van parked on Marske Road in Skelton from issuing tickets last Tuesday. According to the Daily Record, the 23-year-old parked his silver BMW sedan behind the van and opened the trunk to block its view. Passing motorists thanked him, honking in approval for over an hour. The incident inspired a motorist in Grimsby, England to use the same tactic against the mobile camera van on Clee Road on Friday, the Grimsby Telegraph reported.
